Would you pick up a book with this cover? I'm in love with this image but not convinced yet that it is mine -- although it might be. If you are a photographer who is inspired by the notion of CLOUD PHARMACY, please email me at srich18(@) gmail.com. Since several of the poems deal with photography, this image seems especially applicable. It is both wonderful to get to choose my own covers and nerve wracking as well. A first class problem -- fun -- except when I'm turned down on an image I want --- which has happened at least once on every book -- including this one.
Any ideas? Any photographs? Please feel free to send them along. You can leave me a comment with the link or get in touch via email. And by the way, what do you think of this one?
I like this! The photos in the bottles are very cool
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelli;
ReplyDeleteI just pictured a cover with more saturated colors. Should you find something to photograph in your upcoming travels ... I'd love to have your work on the cover!
This is a marvelous photo, Susan, and would make a great book cover!
ReplyDeleteThanks, T; I can't find who the photographer is --- but it has been on many many websites.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I read the title Cloud Pharmacy, I loved the image! Less saturation, Susan, allows the title a more prominent place on the cover, IMHO.
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend is a ceramics artist and makes bottles, many of which are featured on her website. Here is one image: http://rebeccabarfoot.com/359998/euro-bottles-seabound/ But if you browse her site you'll find more. I love the image you've included in your post though!

even if you don't want to use it, i thought it fun to share it anyway.
i love the photo above, except for the wall texture, and that the quality of the print is not very good. the white woodwork and the bottles are just lovely.
I love this image.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathleen, Me, too. I've written to three different web sites and writers today to try and track down the photographer. So far, no luck...
DeleteSusan, this one is my favorite of all the ones so far. It suggests something meaningful, with the photos inside the bottles, but it's not too literal. A bit of mystery, but it still feels light.
ReplyDeleteYour designer could increase the contrast and make some adjustments in Photoshop to add a bit more saturation, if this turned out to be your favorite.
If you haven't found the photographer yet, I think it's Kindra Clineff http://www.kindraclineff.com/stock.html.
Maria! Wow -- if this is her I will owe you undying gratitude. Will contact her/him now. This is my favorite image so far as well. And yes, I would want some color adjustments.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
LOVE this image! It could work beautifully with the title and your name, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteI was initially drawn into this photograph - it is intriguing and interesting. I think if I saw this book on the shelf I would open to the first page!
I understand about the nerve wracking aspect of cover choice. I am in the throes of it right now, too, and I am not having any luck.
